- Room to share: At 135cm wide, two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which is comfortable for most couples who sleep reasonably close.
- Fits the average UK bedroom: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which most doubles-era British bedrooms clear with space for wardrobes and drawers.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward access: Because it arrives rolled in a box, getting it up a turning terrace staircase or across a tight new build landing is far easier than manoeuvring a flat mattress.
- Bedding is cheap and everywhere: Double sheets and duvets are the most widely stocked size in the UK, so dressing this bed costs less than kitting out a king.
- A safe guest room choice: If this is for a spare room that hosts visiting couples, a UK double is the size most guests expect and fit comfortably.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your room sits comfortably above our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, or you're furnishing a guest room that needs to work for visiting couples. It also suits a solo sleeper who wants space to spread out, or shares with a pet that claims a corner, without paying for width you won't use.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space, and your room can take a bed 15cm wider. The UK king would suit you better, giving each of you noticeably more width for a slightly larger footprint.

Is the Highgrove Regina in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double is 135cm wide, giving 67.5cm each for two people sharing. That's the long-established shared size in Britain, although if either of you is broad shouldered or a restless sleeper, the UK king's extra 15cm of width is where that money goes.
What room size do I need for a double Highgrove Regina?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves space for bedside tables on both sides plus a wardrobe. If your room is tighter than that, the UK small double, 15cm narrower, may fit the space better.
Will the boxed UK double fit up narrow stairs?
That's one of the format's real advantages. The Highgrove Regina arrives rolled and compressed in a box, so a 135 x 190cm mattress that would be a two-person struggle on a turning staircase becomes manageable. You'll need to let it expand fully once it's unrolled in the room.
What bedding fits the Highgrove Regina UK double?
Standard UK double bedding: fitted sheets sized 135 x 190cm and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. Because the double is the most common UK bed size, sheets and duvet sets are stocked everywhere at every price point, which keeps the ongoing cost of dressing the bed low.
Should I get the Highgrove Regina in a double or a king?
It comes down to room space against sleeping space. The UK double is 15cm narrower than the UK king, so it fits rooms where a king would dominate. If your bedroom clears roughly 3m x 3m with room to spare and you share nightly, the UK king is the more comfortable long-term buy.
