- The classic shared size: At 135 x 190cm the UK double is the long-standing standard for two, which means bedding, frames and bases are easy to find at every price.
- Fits typical UK bedrooms: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which leaves space for bedside tables on both sides in most master bedrooms.
- A sensible guest room choice: Visiting couples can share it comfortably, and at this price the UK double is an affordable way to make a spare room genuinely useful.
- Room to spread out alone: Solo sleepers get the full 135cm width to themselves, generous enough that a cat or dog claiming a corner doesn't leave you at the edge.
- Budget stretched across a home: If you're furnishing several rooms at once, the accessible price of this mattress in a UK double frees money for the beds you'll use less.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in a typical UK bedroom where a UK king would crowd the floor space, you're setting up a guest room that visiting pairs will share, or you sleep alone and want proper room to sprawl without paying for width you'll never use.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space and your room comfortably exceeds 3m x 3m. The UK king gives you 15cm more width and 10cm more length, and taller sleepers will feel that extra length every night.

How big is the Highgrove Stratus Memory Mattress in a UK double?
It measures 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. That's the standard UK double footprint, so it fits any UK double bed frame and takes standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet, all widely stocked at every price point.
Is the Highgrove Stratus UK double wide enough for two people?
Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which most couples find comfortable. If one of you is broad-shouldered or a restless sleeper, that allowance can feel a little tight, and the UK king's extra 15cm of width makes a real difference. For occasional sharing, in a guest room say, the UK double is ample.
What room size do I need for this mattress in a UK double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That guidance is ours, not Highgrove's. At the minimum you'll still walk around the bed easily; at 3m x 3m you can add bedside tables on both sides without the room feeling cramped.
Should I get the Highgrove Stratus in a UK double or a UK king?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. Choose the UK double if your bedroom is close to our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum or you want to keep costs down. Choose the UK king if you share every night and the room can take it.
Is a UK double Highgrove Stratus a good guest room mattress?
Yes, arguably its strongest use. The UK double accommodates visiting couples as well as solo guests, and the low price of this mattress suits a bed that's slept in a few weeks a year. Do check the retailer's listing for construction details first, as Highgrove doesn't publish full specifications.
