- 90cm each for two sharing: You each get 90cm of width, which means a partner who turns over, fidgets or starfishes stops being your problem at 3am.
- 30cm wider than a UK king: That extra 30cm over the UK king is the difference between sleeping near someone and sleeping next to them, felt every single night.
- Room for the whole household: When children wander in at night, or a large dog treats the bed as routine, everyone still gets a reasonable share of the 180cm width.
- A budget route to maximum space: Super kings usually carry a premium, so an affordable memory option makes the largest standard size realistic for buyers who assumed it was out of reach.
- Fills a large master properly: In a period property or generous main bedroom where a UK king can look undersized, the 180 x 200cm footprint suits the proportions of the room.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night with a genuinely restless partner and distance matters more to you than any comfort layer, your children or pets regularly end up in the bed and you want everyone to keep a fair share, or your main bedroom is large enough that a UK king would look lost in it.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum for this size. In that case we'd recommend the UK king instead, which keeps generous couple space in a footprint more rooms can take.

Will a super king mattress fit in my bedroom?
We suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable once you add wardrobes and walking space. Measure door swing too, and check the route upstairs: landing turns and tight stairwells cause more failed deliveries at this size than any other.
How much space does each person get on a super king?
Two people sharing get 90cm each across the 180cm width. For context, the UK super king is 45cm wider than the UK double and 30cm wider than the UK king, so it offers the most personal space of any size stocked as standard by UK retailers.
Is the Highgrove Stratus Memory Mattress good value in a super king?
It sits at the affordable end of the memory foam market, and super kings are usually where prices climb steepest, so the saving is most noticeable at this size. Highgrove doesn't publish full construction details for this mattress, so check the retailer's listing before ordering. The prices shown on this page update as retailers change them.
Is a super king big enough for co-sleeping with children?
It's the most practical standard size for it. With 180cm of width, a child climbing in during the night still leaves both adults a workable share, where a UK king starts to feel crowded and a UK double simply doesn't cope. The same logic applies if a large dog shares the bed most nights.
What bedding do I need for a super king mattress?
You'll need super king fitted sheets for the 180 x 200cm footprint and a 260 x 220cm duvet. Bedding at this size is pricier than king equivalents and stocked by fewer shops, so it's sensible to factor that into the total cost before you commit.
