- Fits compact rooms: At 90cm wide it leaves floor space free for a desk, wardrobe or toy storage, and we suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of room.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward spaces: Because it arrives rolled and boxed, it can be carried up to a loft conversion or a child's room before you unroll it in place.
- Works for two-bed setups: Siblings sharing a room, or a guest room set up as two beds, can fit two UK singles with a walkway between in a modest space.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Single sheets and a standard single duvet (135 x 200cm) fit, and they're the cheapest and most widely stocked bedding of any size.
- The student and first-flat standard: Most provided frames in student rooms and rentals are UK singles, so a 90 x 190cm mattress drops straight in without measuring worries.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child's or teenager's room where the bed shares space with a desk and storage, you need a mattress for a single frame in a student room or first flat, or you're kitting out a spare room that spends most of the year as an office.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who moves around in the night, or a couple, and 90cm feels tight. We'd recommend the UK small double instead for a solo adult, or the UK double for two.

Will the UK single Highgrove Vernon fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The 90 x 190cm footprint is the standard for bunk, cabin and mid sleeper frames, so width and length should be fine. Raised frames also have a depth limit so the guard rail stays effective, and Highgrove doesn't publish a depth for this mattress, so check the retailer listing against your frame's guidance before buying.
Is a UK single Vernon big enough for an adult?
It works for a single adult, especially in a compact room, a student let or a spare room used a few nights a year. At 90cm wide it's snug if you spread out in your sleep; the UK small double, at 120cm, gives a solo sleeper noticeably more room to move.
How much space do I need for the Highgrove Vernon in a UK single?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which leaves room to walk round the bed and open drawers. That makes it a realistic fit for box rooms, lofts with a narrow usable footprint, and children's rooms where the bed competes with a desk and toy storage.
Can I get the boxed single up a narrow staircase or into a loft room?
Yes, that's one of the main advantages of this size in a box. The Vernon arrives rolled and compressed, so it can be carried through tight doorways and up steep loft stairs, then unrolled in the room where it will live. Unbox it in place rather than in the hallway.
What bedding do I need for this size?
Standard UK single fitted sheets, sized for a 90 x 190cm mattress, and a single duvet at 135 x 200cm. Both are the cheapest and easiest bedding to find in UK shops, which matters if you're setting up a child's bed or a guest room and want spare sets on hand.
