Layer Details
- Solotex™ comfort fibres. The top layer uses Solotex comfort fibres, recycled synthetic fibres that are breathable and durable. In practice this gives a soft initial feel that should resist flattening over time.
- Wool fillings. Two plush fleeces of natural wool sit beneath, layered on top of the cotton fibres. Wool regulates temperature naturally, which means it helps keep you warm in winter and cooler in summer.
- Cotton fillings. A deep layer of responsibly sourced cotton allows air to flow through the mattress. That airflow matters if you tend to sleep warm.
- ReActivePro™ 7-turn pocket springs. 1200 ReActivePro 7-turn pocket springs adapt to your unique shape for personalised, responsive support. Each spring moves independently, so your partner's movements are less likely to disturb you.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Distance plus independent springs: The 1200 ReActivePro 7-turn pocket springs move independently, and combined with 90cm each of width, a fidgeting partner becomes genuinely hard to notice.
- Room for the whole household: If children or a large dog treat your bed as theirs at 3am, 180cm of width means two adults still get a proper share.
- A soft feel without the heat: Wool and cotton fillings let air move across all 180cm of surface, so this gentle sleeping surface shouldn't leave two sharers overheating.
- Sized for larger bedrooms: In a period property or a big master bedroom, a UK king can look undersized; the UK super king fills the space properly.
- No flipping at this scale: The Banbury is single-sided, which matters at 180 x 200cm: seasonal rotation is manageable for two people, but flipping a mattress this size would be a struggle.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most space UK retailers stock as standard, your partner turns over constantly and you'd rather solve it with distance than a comfort layer, or children and pets regularly join you and a UK king no longer stretches far enough. You'll also want a soft to medium feel rather than a firm one, and a room of at least 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or the bed would dominate the room. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Hypnos Banbury super king a good choice for a restless partner?
Yes, arguably the best in the range. Each of the 1200 pocket springs moves independently, so movement doesn't travel far across the mattress, and the UK super king adds 90cm of width per person on top. The combination of isolation and sheer distance means most disturbances simply won't reach you.
Will the Hypnos Banbury super king fit up my stairs?
At 180 x 200cm this is a big, single-piece mattress, so measure your staircase, any landing turns and the bedroom door swing before ordering. Pocket sprung mattresses like the Banbury flex a little but can't fold like foam. Tight Victorian stairs and loft conversions are the usual sticking points, so check twice.
Is the Banbury super king big enough for co-sleeping with children?
It's the most practical mainstream size for it. With 180cm of width, a child wandering in at night takes up space without pushing either adult to the edge. The medium soft feel and independent springs also mean a small body climbing aboard causes less disturbance than you'd expect.
What size room do I need for this mattress in a super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling more comfortable once you add bedside tables and walking space on both sides. In a loft conversion, the ceiling slope will usually decide which wall the bed can take, so factor in headroom as well as floor area.
Where can I buy the Hypnos Banbury in a UK super king?
Compare the retailers listed on this page; the prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so what you see reflects current stock. Larger sizes can move in and out of availability more than smaller ones, so if the UK super king is listed now, that's worth acting on rather than assuming.
