Layer Details
- Cover. Made from sustainably sourced natural cotton with a natural fire retardancy treatment. That means no chemical fire treatments next to your skin.
- Comfort layer. Hand tufted with British wool to create a smooth, sturdier surface. Tufting anchors the fillings in place, which means fewer lumps developing over time.
- Comfort fillings. Finely filled with sustainably sourced cotton fibres. These are highly breathable and wick away moisture, which helps you stay dry and comfortable overnight.
- Solotex™ layer. A recycled synthetic fibre spun to create a breathable, durable filling. It adds a soft, plush layer above the springs.
- eOlus™ fibres. Made from recycled plastic bottles, these bring extra comfort while reducing landfill waste. A small sustainability win baked into the build.
- Support system. 1200 ReActive 6-turn pocket springs, which means each spring responds to your body independently for even support. Rod edging around the unit firms up the perimeter.

- 75cm each for couples: Two people sharing get 75cm of width apiece, which means you can settle into your own sleeping position without negotiating for space.
- Pocket springs limit partner disturbance: The 1200 ReActive pocket springs respond to each body independently, so one of you getting up early is less likely to wake the other.
- 200cm of length for taller sleepers: At 6ft 6in long, the UK king adds 10cm over the UK double, a genuine relief if either of you is nearing six foot.
- Rod edging keeps the full width usable: The firmed-up perimeter means you can sleep right to the edge without the side giving way, so all 150cm counts.
- Wool and cotton across a bigger surface: Breathable natural fillings wick moisture away, and with more space between you there's less shared body heat to deal with.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double has started to feel like a compromise, one of you keeps different hours and you'd rather not be woken by every movement, or someone in the bed is approaching six foot and needs the 200cm length more than the width. Allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m of floor space and this size should serve you well.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs a smaller footprint at 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort UK king big enough for two adults?
Yes, comfortably for most couples. At 150cm wide it gives 75cm each, and the 1200 pocket springs respond to each sleeper independently, so you feel less of your partner's movement. Rod edging firms up the perimeter too, meaning neither of you loses usable space by sleeping near the edge.
How much bigger is the UK king than the double in this mattress?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. On a medium to firm mattress like the Burford Ortho Comfort, that extra width is the difference between sharing comfortably and bumping elbows, and the added length matters if either of you is tall.
Will a UK king Hypnos Burford Ortho Comfort fit in my bedroom?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m of floor space for a UK king, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. Measure with wardrobes and bedside tables in place; a new build master bedroom can feel a good deal smaller once the furniture is in.
Is this size good if my partner gets up earlier than me?
It helps on two fronts. The pocket sprung construction isolates movement better than open coil designs, and the extra width of the UK king puts more distance between you, so an early alarm and a quiet exit are less likely to disturb the person still asleep.
Should a taller sleeper choose the UK king or the UK super king?
Both are 200cm long, so sizing up adds no length. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, which suits couples wanting maximum personal space, but it needs a room of at least 3m x 2.9m. If length is your only concern, the UK king does the job.
