- Damask cover. A finely woven, durable fabric that feels soft to the touch and doesn't retain heat. That matters on a firm mattress, where you sleep more on the surface than in it.
- Silk and polyester fibre blend. A blend of silk and polyester fibres sits beneath the cover for extra comfort and breathability. It takes a little of the edge off the firm feel.
- Soft white fibres. Dual density fibres, plush on one side and dense on the other, deliver the firm comfort while increasing airflow through the mattress. Better airflow means less heat building up overnight.
- Pocket springs. 1000 individual springs, each encased in its own fabric pocket, respond to your movements independently. You get support where you press down without disturbing the rest of the bed.

- Frees up floor space: At 90cm wide, this size leaves room for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a child's bedroom rather than swallowing the whole floor.
- Firm support for growing sleepers: The firm pocket spring build gives back and front sleepers steady support, which many parents prefer for older children and teens.
- Handles two-bed rooms: For siblings sharing or a guest room set up with two beds, a pair of UK singles fits where anything wider would block the walkway.
- A little softness on top: The silk and polyester fibre blend under the damask cover takes the edge off the firm feel, so the surface is less unyielding than the spec suggests.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, the most widely stocked and affordable bedding of any UK size.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child's or teenager's room where the bed shares the floor with a desk and storage, you're a single adult happy with a firm feel in a compact bedroom, or you're kitting out a spare room or student flat where the frame is already a single. In all three cases the 90 x 190cm footprint keeps the room usable.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed, or you sleep alone but sprawl and keep waking at the edge. For couples we'd recommend the UK double, which gives 67.5cm each for two sharing; a solo adult wanting more width should consider the UK small double, which is 30cm wider and the same length.

Is the Relyon Leano 1000 in a UK single suitable for a child?
It can be, with a caveat. The UK single is the standard children's size, and firm support suits growing back and front sleepers. Lightweight side sleepers are a different story: a firm mattress can press on shoulders and hips, and a light child won't sink far enough to soften that. Judge by how your child actually sleeps.
What room size do I need for a UK single Relyon Leano 1000?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. The mattress itself is 90 x 190cm, and that allowance leaves enough room to walk alongside the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe. In a loft conversion, the narrow footprint also makes it easier to tuck the bed under the slope.
Will this UK single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The footprint will, since UK bunk and mid sleeper frames are built around the standard 90 x 190cm single. Depth is the thing to check: at 27cm this is a reasonably deep mattress, and raised frames often set a maximum height so the guard rail stays effective. Check your frame's limit before ordering.
Is a single big enough for an adult on this mattress?
For one average-sized adult, yes, though 90cm of width leaves little spare room if you move around a lot at night. The firm pocket spring support works at the size, it's simply a question of space. If you'd like more width without a longer bed, the UK small double is 30cm wider and the same length.
Should I buy the UK single or size up to the small double?
For a child, a boxy spare room or a frame you already own, the UK single is the practical choice. For an adult sleeping solo long term, the UK small double adds 30cm of width at the same 190cm length, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m of floor space for it.
