- Pillowtop. A tufted pillowtop filled with layers of British wool sits on top, which means a slightly cushioned surface even on this firmer version. Tufting holds the fillings in place so they're less likely to shift or settle unevenly over time.
- Silk, wool, cashmere and alpaca layer. Beneath the pillowtop is a blend of silk, wool, cashmere and alpaca. These natural fibres breathe and wick moisture, so the mattress stays comfortable and temperature-neutral through the night.
- Sustainable fresh fibres. British wool is layered here with sustainable fresh fibres. This adds depth to the comfort layers while keeping the fillings natural rather than synthetic.
- Pocket spring system. The base holds 2000 zoned pocket springs with an additional 1000 mini springs. Zoning means firmer support where your body is heaviest, typically around the hips, while the mini springs add a finer layer of responsiveness closer to the surface.

- 75cm each, every night: Two people sharing get 75cm of width apiece, so you can settle into your preferred position without negotiating for space.
- Less disturbance on different schedules: The 2000 zoned pocket springs move independently, which means an early alarm on one side is less likely to jolt the person still asleep.
- 200cm of length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than a UK double, a real difference if one of you is approaching six foot.
- Firm support across a wider surface: Zoned springs push back hardest under your hips, and in a UK king that support holds steady even when you spread out.
- Natural fillings that scale with the size: Wool, silk, cashmere and alpaca breathe across the full 150cm width, so two warm sleepers are less likely to overheat together.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, especially with this firmer feel making every accidental elbow more noticeable. It also fits if one of you gets up hours before the other, since the pocket springs keep that movement local, or if one partner is tall enough that a 190cm double leaves feet at the edge.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs a smaller 2.6m x 2.8m room and keeps the same firm, zoned support.

Is a UK king big enough for a couple on this firm a mattress?
Yes, comfortably for most. You get 75cm of width each, and because the Milldale 3000 is the firmer version, you sink in less and stay on your own side rather than rolling together. Lightweight side sleepers may still find the surface a little unforgiving, but that's the firmness, and the space itself is generous.
Will the Milldale 3000 UK king stop me feeling my partner get up?
It should reduce it noticeably. The 2000 zoned pocket springs and 1000 mini springs compress individually, so movement on one side doesn't travel far. Combined with the 75cm of width each person gets in a UK king, an early riser can slip out with far less disruption than on a smaller sprung mattress.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, the UK king gives you 10cm more length than a UK double, which is often the difference between feet hanging off the end and lying flat. If you're well over six foot you'll still use most of it, but for anyone around the six foot mark it's usually the length upgrade that matters most.
What room size do I need for the Milldale 3000 in a UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with more feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables are in. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear, so measure with furniture in place. If your room falls short, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and is a sensible step down.
Should I go for the UK king or the UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider, the same length, and needs a room of at least 3m x 2.9m. If a dog or a child regularly ends up in the bed, that extra width is tempting. For most couples upgrading from a double, though, the UK king delivers the improvement they were after without the larger room demands.
