- Cover. A Smooth-Tech™ fabric sleep surface. It gives you a smooth, comfortable top layer to lie on.
- Fillings. English cotton, Hampshire wool, silk and cashmere. These natural fibres breathe and wick moisture, which means better temperature regulation through the night.
- Spring system. 1000 pocket springs and 1000 micro springs in the king size, with 7 zones that mirror your body shape. Each spring moves independently, so you get targeted support and less disturbance from a partner's movement.
- Support. A double steel-framed system reinforces the mattress edges. This maximises the usable sleep area, so you can spread out to the very edge without it giving way.

- Leaves your floor free: At 90 x 190cm, the UK single leaves space for a desk, wardrobe or toy storage in a compact bedroom, so the room still works during the day.
- Comfortable under a sloping ceiling: The wool and cotton fillings breathe and wick moisture, which means a cooler night in a loft conversion where warm air tends to collect near the bed.
- Firm support for one sleeper: The firm feel suits a teenager or adult who sleeps mainly on their back or front, although lightweight side sleepers may find it a little unyielding at the shoulder.
- Edges you can use: A double steel-framed edge reinforces the sides, so on a 90cm-wide bed you can lie close to the edge without the mattress giving way beneath you.
- Easy to pair in a guest room: Two UK singles side by side give guests separate beds, and each one keeps the same firm, zoned feel as the larger models.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone, or you're buying for a child or teenager who prefers a firmer bed, and the room has to hold a desk or storage too. It also suits you if you're furnishing a spare room with two separate beds or fitting a bed beneath a sloping loft ceiling.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed, or a single adult wants more room to spread out. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which is 30cm wider; we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double.

Is the Village Inspire 2850 Firm UK single too deep for a bunk bed?
It might be. The mattress is 29cm deep, which is on the deep side for many raised frames. Check the maximum mattress depth in your bunk, cabin or mid sleeper instructions, and make sure the guard rail will still sit well above the sleeping surface once the mattress is in place.
What size bedroom do I need for a Village Inspire 2850 UK single?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for the UK single. That gives you room to walk around the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe. If a desk or a second bed is going in as well, measure the whole layout before you buy.
Is the firm Village Inspire 2850 UK single suitable for a child?
It can be, especially for an older child or teenager who sleeps on their back or front. Lighter children who curl up on their side may find the firm feel a little hard at the shoulder. Furniture Village also sells the Inspire 2850 in a medium feel, so check that version if you're unsure.
Should I buy the UK single or the UK small double of the Village Inspire 2850?
The UK single is 30cm narrower than the UK small double, and both are the same length. Choose the UK single if floor space is tight or it's for a child. The UK small double suits an adult who wants more width, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for that size.
Can I fit two Village Inspire 2850 UK singles in a guest room?
Often, yes, and twin beds give guests who aren't couples a bed each. You'll need more floor space than our single-bed guidance of 2.1m x 2.8m, because you need a walkway between the beds as well. Measure your room and compare the retailers listed on this page for current prices on each mattress.
