- British fleece wool. A layer of British fleece wool sits at the top for added warmth and comfort. Wool also handles moisture well, which helps the sleeping surface stay fresher.
- Hand-teased horsetail and Devonshire wool. Hand-teased horsetail blended with Devonshire wool creates a soft yet supportive surface. Horsetail is naturally resilient, so it keeps its spring rather than flattening the way cheaper fillings can.
- British fleece wool. A second layer of British fleece wool sits between the comfort fillings and the springs. It cushions the transition so you feel support without any sense of the springs beneath.
- Pocket springs. A two-layer, hand-nested calico pocket spring construction with 2,030 vanadium steel springs in the 150 x 200cm size. Nesting the springs by hand packs them closely together, which means more responsive, evenly distributed support across the whole mattress.

- Room to sprawl on your own: The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which means a solo sleeper can turn over or spread out without reaching the edge.
- Fits rooms a UK double would crowd: At 15cm narrower than the UK double, it can leave you enough clearance for a door to swing open or for a bedside table in a compact room.
- Suits a guest room with occasional couples: Two visitors can manage a night or two together, although nobody should plan on sharing a UK small double every night.
- Handmade quality at a scale one person can use: Solo sleepers get the Kingsbridge's independently moving springs and natural fillings in a size that matches how they actually sleep, with no surplus mattress.
- A sensible fit when downsizing: If you're moving to a smaller home, this size lets you keep a traditional sprung mattress while measuring the bed against the new room.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want more stretching room than a single allows, or your bedroom is compact but still clears our suggested 2.4m x 2.8m. It also fits if you're furnishing a guest room where couples stay now and then rather than every night.
Consider another size if...
Two of you will share the bed every night and need proper room each. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives 67.5cm each; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Vispring Kingsbridge UK small double big enough for one adult?
For most solo adults, yes. At 120 x 190cm it is 30cm wider than the UK single, so you can sleep diagonally or starfish without hitting the edge. The length is 6ft 3in, so very tall sleepers should measure themselves against that before ordering.
Will a Kingsbridge UK small double fit in a small bedroom?
We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double. That leaves space to walk around the bed and open a door or wardrobe. In a loft conversion with a sloping ceiling, check you have standing room along at least one side of the bed.
How many springs are in the Vispring Kingsbridge small double?
Vispring publishes a spring count of 2,030 for the 150 x 200cm size only. It doesn't give a figure for the UK small double, so check the brand's own guidance if the exact count matters to you. The construction is the same hand-nested, two-layer calico pocket system at every size.
Should I choose the Kingsbridge in a UK small double or UK double?
If you sleep alone, the UK small double gives plenty of room and needs less floor space. If you share nightly, the UK double is the better choice at 67.5cm each. Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double against 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double.
Is a Vispring Kingsbridge UK small double good for a guest room?
It suits a guest room that hosts single visitors often and couples occasionally. Two people can share for a short stay, though it will feel snug night after night. Because it is a considered purchase, the UK small double makes most sense in a room that gets regular use.
