- Ticking. The mattress is covered in soft, finest quality ticking. It is the surface you will actually feel through your sheet, so the softness here matters.
- Hand tufting and side-stitching. Hand tufting with felt washers anchors the fillings so they stay evenly distributed rather than migrating. Two rows of hand side-stitching strengthen the edge, giving you usable sleeping space right to the border.
- Springs and pockets. The 5 foot size holds 1,326 vanadium steel springs, each with 6 coils and hand-nested in its own calico pocket, sitting beneath a wool protector pad. Individual pockets mean each spring moves on its own, which reduces the ripple you feel when a partner turns over.
- Borders. The borders are upholstered in wool and fitted with air vents and handles. The vents let the mattress breathe while the handles make turning and repositioning it a little easier.

- Distance from a restless partner: At 90cm each, you get 15cm more width per person than on the UK king, which means a partner's fidgeting happens further away from you.
- Independent springs across the full width: Each spring sits in its own calico pocket, so movement on one side travels less across the bed, and the extra width puts more distance between you still.
- Room when the family piles in: A wandering child or a large dog can settle in the middle without either adult ending up perched on the edge.
- Edges you can actually sleep on: Two rows of hand side-stitching firm up the border, so more of the 180cm width is usable sleeping space rather than a soft rim you avoid.
- Same length as the UK king: At 200cm long, the UK super king matches the UK king for length, so moving up gives you extra width without any extra length.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed with a partner who tosses and turns, your children or dog regularly end up in with you, and your bedroom comfortably exceeds our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your room is below our suggested 3m x 2.9m, or a tight landing turn would stop a 180cm-wide mattress. We'd recommend the UK king instead; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Vispring Realm UK super king big enough for two adults and a child?
For night-time visits, yes. You each start with 90cm, so a small child who wanders in can take the middle without anyone being pushed to the edge. The firm tension also means nobody sinks towards the centre, which helps everyone keep their own patch. If you co-sleep every night, expect personal space to feel a little tighter.
Vispring Realm UK super king vs UK king: how much extra space do you get?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length. Shared between two, that is 15cm more each: 90cm per person against 75cm on the UK king. If a partner's movement is what wakes you, that extra gap is often more noticeable than any difference in comfort.
Will a UK super king Vispring Realm fit in a loft conversion bedroom?
Check the floor area and the ceiling slope together. We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, and in a loft room the slope usually decides which wall the headboard goes against, because you need standing height at both sides to get in and out. Measure the stair turn up to the loft too, since 180cm is a lot of width to manoeuvre.
Is a UK super king Vispring Realm worth it over a UK double for a couple?
If you regularly disturb each other, it can be. The UK super king gives you 22.5cm more width each than the UK double, and it is 10cm longer as well. The trade-off is room size: we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double, against 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king.
Can a large dog sleep on a Vispring Realm super king with two people?
With 180cm of width, a large dog lying at the foot or between you is far easier to fit in than on the UK king or UK double. The firm surface and stitched edges help both of you stay settled rather than being nudged off. Fur and claws will reach the wool-upholstered borders, though, so a fitted protector is sensible.
