Layer Details
- Gel foam comfort layer. A breathable gel foam layer that draws heat away from your body. In practice, this means a cooler sleeping surface than standard foam.
- 800 pocket spring support system. 800 responsive pocket springs that move independently, giving targeted support where you need it. This also helps limit motion transfer if you share the bed.
Layer details from arthursleep.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- A shared size that fits most rooms: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double leaves space for wardrobes and drawers where a UK king would dominate, and we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
- Cooling for two: Two bodies raise the temperature under a duvet, so the gel foam layer that draws heat away matters more in a shared UK double than in a single.
- Targeted support without partner disturbance: The 800 pocket springs move independently, which means at 67.5cm each for two people sharing, one of you turning over is less likely to wake the other.
- A budget-friendly way to sleep two: This mattress sits at the affordable end of the market, so the UK double works when you're setting up a first flat or a guest room for visiting couples.
- Easier to deliver and dress: Vacuum packed and rolled, it manages turning stairs and tight landings more easily than a larger size, and double bedding is stocked everywhere at every price.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed and your room comfortably fits a UK double but would feel cramped with anything larger, you're furnishing a home on a tight budget and need a couples' size that doesn't swallow it, or you're kitting out a guest room that hosts visiting couples. It also suits a solo sleeper who wants space to spread out, even with a pet claiming a corner.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like room to stretch, or one of you sleeps hot and wants distance on warm nights. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m of room space for it.

Is the Arthur Sleep Cool Pocket in a UK double big enough for two people?
Yes, though it's snug rather than generous: 67.5cm each for two people sharing. The 800 pocket springs help here, because they respond to each of you independently and limit motion transfer when one of you turns over. If either of you is a restless or larger sleeper, consider the UK king instead.
Will a UK double Arthur Sleep mattress keep a couple cool?
The gel foam comfort layer is breathable and draws heat away, giving a cooler surface than standard foam. That matters more in a shared bed, where two bodies build up warmth. It won't feel like air conditioning, but across a double it should mean fewer clammy nights for both of you.
What room size do I need for a double Arthur Sleep Cool Pocket?
The mattress measures 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm, which leaves space for bedside tables on both sides and a wardrobe without squeezing past the bed.
Should I get this mattress in a UK double or a UK king?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double, and for it we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m. Choose the UK double if your room is smaller than that, or if budget is tight. Choose the UK king if you both want more personal space.
Is the double Arthur Sleep Cool Pocket easy to get upstairs?
It arrives vacuum packed and rolled, which makes a real difference on the turning stairs of older terraces or a tight new build landing. The rolled box is far easier to manoeuvre than a flat 135 x 190cm mattress, and the turning handles help once it's expanded and needs positioning on the base.
