Gel foam comfort layer
A breathable gel foam layer that draws heat away from your body. In practice, this means a cooler sleeping surface than standard foam.
800 pocket spring support system
800 responsive pocket springs that move independently, giving targeted support where you need it. This also helps limit motion transfer if you share the bed.
Layer details from arthursleep.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits the smallest rooms: At 90cm wide, it leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe or toy storage, and we suggest as little as 2.1m x 2.8m of room.
- Cooler for warm little rooms: The gel foam layer draws heat away, useful in box rooms and loft spaces that hold warmth in summer.
- Works on raised frames: At 25cm deep it sits comfortably within the guard rail height most bunk and mid sleeper frames require, though check your frame's stated maximum.
- Support that grows with a teen: Medium firm with 800 individual pocket springs gives a growing teenager proper spinal support rather than a soft surface they sink into.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Single sheets and duvets are the most widely stocked of any UK size, which keeps a guest room or child's room simple to run.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager moving up from a cot bed or first bed, you need a mattress for a bunk, cabin or mid sleeper frame, or you're kitting out a spare room or student flat where the frame is provided and the mattress isn't. It also suits a solo adult sleeper in a compact room, though taller adults should note the 190cm length.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who shares the bed, or a solo sleeper who likes to spread out. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 45cm wider and the same length; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for it.

Is the Arthur Sleep Cool Pocket UK single suitable for a child?
Yes, with one caveat. The 800 pocket springs and medium firm feel give good support for a growing child or teenager, and the gel foam top helps in a warm bedroom. Very lightweight children may find medium firm slightly hard at first, so it suits older kids and teens better than toddlers moving up from a cot bed.
Will the UK single fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The footprint is standard at 90 x 190cm, so it fits UK bunk, cabin and mid sleeper frames. Depth is the thing to check: this mattress is 25cm deep, and some raised frames specify a maximum so the guard rail still does its job. Check your frame's guidance before ordering.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which gives you room to walk alongside the bed and open drawers or wardrobe doors. In practice that makes the UK single the only realistic option for many box rooms, lofts with sloping ceilings and children's rooms where the bed shares space with a desk.
Is a UK single big enough for an adult?
For one adult sleeping alone, yes, provided you're under about 6ft 3in, since the mattress is 190cm long. At 90cm wide it suits stiller sleepers better than those who sprawl. If you'd like more width without a bigger step up, the UK small double is 30cm wider and the same length.
Where can I compare prices for the Arthur Sleep Cool Pocket in a UK single?
Use the price table on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so it's the quickest way to see what the UK single costs today. Arthur Sleep is a house brand of Mattressman Ltd, so availability tends to sit with the brand's own channel rather than a wide retail spread.
