Layer Details
- High Density Memory Foam. A 2.5cm layer of high density memory foam that shapes around your body to relieve built-up pressure. You'll feel a gentle cradling at your hips and shoulders rather than a deep sink.
- Reflex Foam. The 15.5cm reflex foam layer responds to changes in movement or weight, tailoring support to the places that need it most. In practice, that means a stable, springy base that stops you feeling stuck in the mattress.

- A shared size for typical rooms: At 135 x 190cm the UK double fits comfortably in rooms where a UK king would dominate, and we suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
- Sensible width for two: Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which works well for couples who sleep close, although restless pairs may notice each other through the foam.
- Budget-friendly at a shared size: The Vitality is a simple two-layer foam mattress, so the double is a practical pick if you're kitting out a whole home and the budget is stretched.
- Easy to move and manoeuvre: The slimmer 18cm build makes the double easier to carry up turning stairs in older terraces or round a tight new build landing than a bulkier hybrid.
- Bedding stocked everywhere: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet are sold at every price point, which keeps the running costs of this size low.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple wanting the classic shared size in a room that couldn't take a UK king, you're furnishing a first flat or second bedroom where the bed has to share space with a wardrobe and drawers, or you're a solo sleeper who likes room to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both want more elbow room and your bedroom can spare it. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Bodyshape Vitality UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, which is the long-standing British standard. Memory foam absorbs some movement, so a partner turning over is less noticeable than on a springy mattress, although lighter sleepers who want clear separation may prefer sizing up to the UK king.
What room size do I need for the Bodyshape Vitality double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves room for bedside tables on both sides and space to walk around the bed, which matters if a wardrobe and chest of drawers share the room.
Will the UK double Vitality fit up narrow stairs?
At 135 x 190cm and 18cm deep, the double is one of the easier shared sizes to move. Foam mattresses also flex more than sprung ones, which helps on turning staircases in older terraces or tight landings. Measure your narrowest point first all the same.
Should I get the Vitality in a double or a small double?
The UK double is 15cm wider than the UK small double, and the two are the same length. For couples, that extra width is usually worth having. The UK small double suits a solo sleeper in a compact room, where we suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m.
What bedding fits the Bodyshape Vitality double?
Standard UK double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet fit the 135 x 190cm mattress. Because the Vitality is 18cm deep, slimmer than many foam mattresses, standard-depth fitted sheets will tuck under neatly rather than sitting loose, and you won't need extra-deep versions.
