Premium Talalay latex
Natural latex with no artificial additives. This gives a springy, responsive comfort layer rather than the slow sink of memory foam.
Calico pocket springs
A single layer of 1760 natural calico pocket springs in the 150x200cm size, hand-nested and hand-centre-tied. That hand-tying is there to minimise movement transfer, which means a restless partner is less likely to wake you.
Cashmere and silk
Cashmere hair and silk fibres blended into a durable insulation layer. It's designed to keep the feel supportive rather than squashy.
Layers of wool
Wool blended into a blanket-like upholstery layer. Wool adds a soft, insulating finish beneath the cover.
Layer details from dunlopillo.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits compact rooms: At 90cm wide it slots under a loft conversion slope or into a spare room that doubles as an office, leaving usable floor space either side.
- Guest room comfort: The cashmere, silk and wool upholstery means overnight guests get a genuinely comfortable night rather than the thin, tired mattress spare beds usually carry.
- Firm edges in a narrow bed: Firmer gauge border springs support the edge, which matters more in a UK single because you sleep closer to the side.
- A medium feel for one: The medium firmness suits most solo adults and teenagers, although anyone who prefers a very firm or very soft mattress should look elsewhere.
- Built to last through teenage years: The natural materials and 15-year guarantee make it a mattress a teenager can keep from school right through to a first flat.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want proper natural materials rather than a budget single, your guest room deserves better than the usual spare bed compromise, or you're buying for a teenager and want a mattress that will still be supportive in a decade. It also suits a student room or first flat where the frame is provided but the mattress is yours to choose.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed, or you're a solo sleeper who spreads out and finds 90cm restrictive. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 45cm wider and the same length; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for it.

How many springs does the Dunlopillo Elite Luxury have in a UK single?
Dunlopillo's spec sheet lists 1000 calico pocket springs in the single, even though the retailer name says 1750. Spring counts scale with mattress area, so a smaller size carries fewer springs. The springs are still hand-nested and hand-centre-tied, so the independent movement the mattress is known for is unchanged.
What size room do I need for the Dunlopillo Elite Luxury single?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space. That leaves room to walk round the bed and open drawers or a wardrobe, which matters in a child's room where the bed competes with toy storage and a desk. Two singles plus a walkway will fit most shared children's rooms.
Is the Dunlopillo Elite Luxury single a good guest room mattress?
Yes, if the budget allows. Guests get the same Talalay latex and cashmere, silk and wool layers as the larger sizes, and the medium feel suits the widest range of visitors. It's a premium spend for occasional use, but in a spare room that hosts regularly it earns consideration.
Will the Dunlopillo Elite Luxury single work on a bunk or mid sleeper?
Be careful here. It's 30cm deep, with up to 2cm of loft tolerance on top, and many bunk and mid-sleeper frames specify a shallower maximum so the guard rail stays effective. Check your frame's maximum mattress depth before buying; a raised bed with a rail sitting below the sleeping surface isn't safe.
How much bigger is a UK double than the UK single?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and the two are the same length. That extra width is the difference between one sleeper and a comfortable two. If you're sizing up, we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space for the UK double.
