- 90cm each, every night: Two sharers get 90cm each, which means a fidgeting partner is a comfortable arm's length away rather than pressed against your shoulder.
- Pocket springs plus distance: Independent pocket springs already limit motion transfer, and at this width most movement simply happens too far away to feel.
- Room for the whole household: If children wander in during the small hours, or a large dog treats the bed as its own, 6ft of width absorbs the extra body without a squabble.
- A stable surface across the full width: The firm tension holds its shape edge to edge, so a back or front sleeper stays supported even when pushed towards one side of the bed.
- The largest standard UK size: At 6ft x 6ft 6in, this is as much mattress as mainstream retailers stock, 30cm wider than the UK king with the same length.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and one of you is a genuinely restless sleeper, or children and pets regularly join you and a UK king has started to feel crowded. Your room can take it: we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, and in a large master or period bedroom a UK king can actually look undersized. You also both prefer a firm, springy feel over anything soft.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or the extra width would leave no walking space around the bed. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and needs a smaller 2.7m x 2.9m room.

Is the Palladium 16500 super king big enough for a family?
For most, yes. Two adults get 90cm each, so a child climbing in at 3am doesn't force anyone to the edge. The firm tension helps too, keeping the surface stable rather than tipping everyone towards the heaviest sleeper. Large dogs sharing as routine is exactly the situation this width handles.
Will a super king Palladium 16500 stop me feeling my partner move?
It's about as close as a mattress gets. The pocket springs compress individually, so movement doesn't travel far, and with 90cm of width each most of your partner's tossing happens outside the range you'd notice anyway. For a genuinely restless sharer, the extra distance matters more than any comfort layer.
What room size do I need for the Palladium 16500 in a super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, with something nearer 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable once you add bedside tables and walking space. In a loft conversion, check the ceiling slope first, as it often decides which wall a 180cm-wide bed can sit against.
Is the super king too big if my room currently fits a king?
Possibly. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, though both are 200cm long, so the extra demand is all in width. Measure the wall the bed sits against and check door swing before ordering. If the fit looks tight, the UK king needs only 2.7m x 2.9m.
Can I get a firm super king mattress upstairs easily?
A 180 x 200cm pocket spring mattress is heavy and awkward on tight landings, and firm pocket-sprung builds don't bend the way foam does. Measure stair turns and door frames before you commit. If access is genuinely tight, ask your retailer about handling before delivery day.
