Cover
A wool-blend cover woven in-house, which is fire-retardant without chemical treatments. That means fire safety comes from the wool itself rather than added sprays.
Fillings
Naturally cooling and moisture-wicking fillings, including responsibly sourced and fully traceable British wool, hemp and flax grown on the Harrison Spinks farm. These help regulate temperature through the night.
Micro springs
A layer of 2,500 high-density micro springs sits above the main support unit. These give closer-contouring pressure relief and added comfort, doing a similar job to a comfort layer in a foam mattress.
Pocket spring system
The award-winning Advanced Cortec Quad pocket spring system, with 3,250 springs in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means less motion transfer and support that follows your shape.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Dual tension starts at this size: The medium and firm tensions can be split across the two halves in the UK king, which means partners who disagree on firmness no longer have to compromise.
- 3,250 pocket springs in the king: The Advanced Cortec Quad system carries 3,250 springs at this size, each moving independently, so one of you getting up early disturbs the other less.
- 75cm of width each: That is genuine personal space for two people sharing, enough to change position in pregnancy or after an injury without waking whoever is next to you.
- 200cm of length: The UK king adds 10cm of length over the UK double, which anyone approaching six foot will feel at the ankles every night.
- Natural fillings across a wider surface: Wool, hemp and flax wick moisture and regulate temperature, useful in a shared bed where two bodies generate noticeably more heat than one.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel tight, especially if one of you is tall enough to appreciate the 200cm length. It also suits couples who want different firmness on each side, since dual tension is available from the UK king upwards, and anyone whose sleep is regularly broken by a partner on a different schedule.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone. The UK double would suit you better; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for that size.

Can I get the Harrison Spinks Pure Response in dual tension in a UK king?
Yes. The Pure Response comes in medium and firm tensions, and in the UK king and UK super king you can have a different tension on each side. If one of you wants firmer support and the other prefers a slightly softer feel, this size is where that choice becomes available.
How many springs does the UK king Pure Response have?
The Advanced Cortec Quad pocket spring system contains 3,250 springs in the king size, with a further 2,500 micro springs above it for closer-contouring comfort. Spring counts scale with mattress size, so the king figure is the one to compare against other brands' king mattresses, rather than counts quoted for smaller sizes.
Is the UK king Pure Response long enough for a tall sleeper?
At 200cm (the UK king is 5ft x 6ft 6in), it runs 10cm longer than the UK double, which makes a real difference if either of you is approaching six foot. If height is your only issue, the extra length alone can justify the upgrade, since the UK super king is the same length.
What room size do I need for a king Pure Response?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they look once wardrobes go in, so measure the usable floor space rather than the room itself, and remember you need walking room on both sides.
Does a UK king reduce partner disturbance on this mattress?
It helps twice over. The 150cm width gives you 75cm each for two people sharing, so restless nights or an early alarm on one side intrude less. And because each of the 3,250 pocket springs moves independently, movement transfers less across the surface than it would on a connected spring unit.
