Layer Details
- Cover. A wool-blend cover woven in-house, which is fire-retardant without chemical treatments. That means fire safety comes from the wool itself rather than added sprays.
- Fillings. Naturally cooling and moisture-wicking fillings, including responsibly sourced and fully traceable British wool, hemp and flax grown on the Harrison Spinks farm. These help regulate temperature through the night.
- Micro springs. A layer of 2,500 high-density micro springs sits above the main support unit. These give closer-contouring pressure relief and added comfort, doing a similar job to a comfort layer in a foam mattress.
- Pocket spring system. The award-winning Advanced Cortec Quad pocket spring system, with 3,250 springs in the king size. Each spring moves independently, which means less motion transfer and support that follows your shape.

- Real distance from a fidgety partner: With 90cm each, a partner who turns all night is simply further away, and the independent pocket springs keep their movement from travelling across to your side.
- Dual tension on this size: The super king is one of the two sizes offered in dual tension, so one side can be medium and the other firm without compromise.
- Room for night-time visitors: At 6ft x 6ft 6in there is space for a child who wanders in at 3am, or a large dog with settled habits, without anyone hanging off the edge.
- Natural fillings across a bigger surface: Wool, hemp and flax wick moisture and regulate temperature, which matters more when three warm bodies occasionally end up under one duvet.
- Extra length as well as width: At 200cm long the super king gives taller sleepers a proper 10cm more legroom than the UK double or UK single.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most sleeping space a standard UK size offers, your partner is genuinely restless and distance matters more to you than any comfort layer, or children and pets regularly join you and everyone still needs their own patch. It also suits couples who disagree on firmness, since this size can be ordered in dual tension.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for a super king, or a king already fills the wall. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, still offers dual tension, and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Can I get the Pure Response super king in dual tension?
Yes. Harrison Spinks offers the Pure Response in dual tension in the king and super king sizes only, so in a UK super king each partner can choose medium or firm for their own side. If one of you sleeps on your side and the other on your back, this solves an argument no single-tension mattress can.
How much space do we each get on a super king Pure Response?
The UK super king measures 180 x 200cm, which gives two people sharing 90cm each. Because every pocket spring moves independently, that width does more than usual here: your partner's tossing and turning is both further away and less likely to transfer through the mattress to your side.
Is the Pure Response super king big enough to share with children?
If a child wanders in most nights, this is the size that copes best. At 6ft wide, two adults and a small visitor can all keep a reasonable share, and the naturally cooling wool, hemp and flax fillings help when extra body heat builds up under the duvet. A UK king makes the same arrangement noticeably tighter.
What room size does the Pure Response need in a super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, and that is our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. Measure with wardrobes and door swing in mind, since a bed this size dominates the floor plan. In a large master or a period property, though, a super king often looks better proportioned than a king.
Where can I compare prices for the Pure Response super king?
Use the retailer table on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so it will always reflect what the UK super king actually costs today. Bear in mind super king bedding costs more than smaller sizes too, so it's slightly more than the mattress price alone.
