- Cover. A fine wool-viscose cover, chosen for its supreme softness. It is the first thing you feel, and it sets the gentle tone for the rest of the mattress.
- Comfort fillings. Luxurious natural fillings including silk, mohair, Yorkshire wool, cotton, hemp and flax. Natural fibres like these breathe and wick moisture, which means a cooler, drier feel through the night than most synthetic foams.
- Support system. 10,750 pocket springs using Harrison Spinks' award-winning Cortec Quad Core spring system, with each spring nestled within a breathable fabric pocket. Springs that move independently respond to each part of your body, so a heavier hip sinks in while a lighter shoulder stays supported.

- A shared bed that leaves the room usable: At 135cm wide, the UK double fits where a UK king would dominate, so bedside tables on both sides remain realistic in an ordinary British bedroom.
- 67.5cm each for two sharing: Two people get 67.5cm each, and with springs that move independently you feel your own side rather than every turn your partner makes.
- Softness that suits close quarters: The medium soft feel cushions shoulders and hips, which matters when 67.5cm each means you settle into your space rather than sprawling across it.
- Natural fillings for two warm bodies: Wool, silk and flax breathe and wick moisture, which helps when two people share 135cm of mattress through a warm night.
- Easy to dress, easy to replace bedding: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet are stocked everywhere at every price, so dressing this size never becomes a hunt.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want a quality mattress in a size that still leaves your bedroom feeling like a room, or you sleep alone and want space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also suits a guest room that regularly hosts visiting couples, provided the room allows at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space, or one of you is a restless sleeper who drifts across the bed. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we'd recommend it if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Saltaire 10750 UK double big enough for a couple?
It gives two people 67.5cm each, which is the traditional shared standard in the UK and works well for most couples. The 10,750 pocket springs respond to each sleeper separately, so movement transfer is low. If either of you is broad-shouldered or a restless sleeper, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
What room size do I need for the Saltaire 10750 in a double?
The mattress itself is 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and room for a wardrobe or drawers, which matters in a second bedroom or first flat where every metre counts.
Will the Saltaire 10750 double fit up a narrow staircase?
This is a 30cm deep pocket spring mattress with natural fillings, so it arrives full size rather than rolled in a box. At 135cm wide it is more manageable on turning stairs in older terraces or tight new build landings than the larger sizes, but measure your tightest corner before ordering and check the retailer's delivery guidance.
Can I fit bedside tables either side of a double bed?
Usually, yes, and that is one of the main reasons to choose the UK double over the UK king. In a room around our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, the 135cm width leaves enough clearance for a table on each side. A UK king in the same room would push tables tight against the walls or out entirely.
Is the double or the king better value for the Saltaire 10750?
We can't quote prices here because they change often; the live figures are in the table on this page. Broadly, the UK double is the more affordable route into this mattress, and on a considered purchase at this level, choosing the double over the UK king can free up budget elsewhere, useful if you're furnishing a whole home at once.
