- Fits where bigger beds can't: At 90cm wide, the UK single leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a child's room that has to do several jobs at once.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward rooms: Because the Dawson comes rolled in a box, getting it up to a loft conversion or into a compact bedroom is a one-person job rather than a struggle.
- Works for shared children's rooms: Two UK singles fit side by side with a walkway between in most shared bedrooms, which a wider size simply wouldn't allow.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Single sheets and a standard single duvet (135 x 200cm) are the most widely stocked bedding of any size, so replacements are quick to find.
- Modest room requirement: We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which most UK box rooms, studies and spare rooms can manage comfortably.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for one sleeper: a child moving up from a cot bed, a teenager, or an adult in a spare room, student room or first flat where the frame is a standard UK single. It also suits a guest room set up as two separate beds rather than one double, or a loft room where only a narrow footprint fits under the slope.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who moves around at night and finds 90cm restrictive, or you're furnishing a room with space to spare. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which gives a solo sleeper 30cm more width.

What size is the Highgrove Dawson single mattress?
The UK single version of the Highgrove Dawson measures 90 x 190cm, which is 3ft x 6ft 3in. That's the standard UK one-person size, so it fits any regular single frame, and standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm duvet fit without adjustment.
Will the Highgrove Dawson single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The 90 x 190cm footprint matches standard UK bunk and mid-sleeper frames. Highgrove doesn't publish a depth for the Dawson, and raised frames need the mattress to sit below the guard rail, so check the frame's maximum mattress depth against the retailer's specification before ordering.
Is a UK single big enough for an adult?
For most adults sleeping alone, yes, though at 90cm wide it's snug if you spread out. It's a practical choice for occasional guests, student rooms and spare beds. If it's your everyday bed and the room allows, the UK small double gives you noticeably more space to move.
How much smaller is the single Dawson than the double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and 30cm narrower than the UK small double. All three share the same 190cm length, so it's purely width you're trading, which matters most if two people might ever share the bed.
Where can I buy the Highgrove Dawson in a UK single?
Compare the retailers listed on this page; the prices shown here are updated as they change. Stock of the Dawson is limited at present, so there's less scope to shop around than with some mattresses, which makes checking the live table before you buy all the more useful.
