Layer Details
Stretch Knit Fabric
A soft, pliable cover that lets the fillings beneath contour to your body shape. You feel the comfort layers working rather than a stiff barrier between you and them.
Quilted Finish
The outer fabric is stitched directly to the surface fillings. This keeps everything in place, which means a flat, even sleeping surface without the fillings shifting about.
White Fibre Fillings
A lightweight, high-loft material that holds its shape over time. It's hypoallergenic too, a helpful point if you're prone to allergies.
High-density advanced foam comfort layers
A reflex foam layer designed to conform to your body by spreading your weight evenly. In practice that means reduced pressure points where you sink in most, typically hips and shoulders.
Open Coil Springs
Rows of hourglass-shaped springs joined at top and bottom by helical wires, forming one interconnected unit. This construction is hardwearing, though the connected springs mean you'll notice a partner's movement more than you would with pocket springs.

- Room for two in most bedrooms: At 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double shares comfortably where a UK king would crowd the room.
- 67.5cm each for two people sharing: That's the width each sleeper gets across this UK double, enough for most couples who sleep reasonably close.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward access: It arrives vacuum packed and rolled, which means turning stairs in older terraces or a tight new build landing are far less of a battle.
- A medium feel that suits shared beds: The medium-firmness surface works for most sleeping positions, useful when two people with different preferences share one mattress.
- Bedding is easy and cheap to find: Double sheets and duvets are stocked everywhere at every price, handy if you're furnishing a whole home and the bed is one line on a long list.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in a typical UK bedroom and want the standard shared size without paying king money, or you're kitting out a first flat or second bedroom where the bed has to leave space for a wardrobe and drawers. It also suits a guest room that needs to sleep visiting couples, given the Edmonton's modest price makes it a sensible occasional-use buy.
Consider another size if...
You both like space and your room can take a bigger footprint, especially since the Edmonton's open coil springs transfer a partner's movement. We'd recommend the UK king instead: 15cm wider, so restless sleepers disturb each other less.

Is the Highgrove Edmonton double big enough for two adults?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and the Edmonton's medium feel suits a range of sleeping positions. One caveat: the open coil springs are interconnected, so you'll notice a partner's movement more than with pocket springs. If either of you is a restless sleeper, sizing up to the UK king helps.
What size room do I need for the Edmonton in a UK double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. At 135 x 190cm, the UK double fits most British bedrooms with space left for a wardrobe and drawers, and in many rooms you can still fit bedside tables on both sides, which a UK king often rules out.
Will the boxed Edmonton double fit up narrow stairs?
This is one of its stronger points. The UK double arrives vacuum packed, rolled and boxed, so you're carrying a compact cylinder rather than manoeuvring a rigid 135 x 190cm mattress around a turning staircase or through a tight landing. Once it's in the room, unroll it and let it expand.
Should I get the Edmonton in a double or a king?
The UK double suits most couples and most rooms; the UK king is 15cm wider than the UK double, which matters if you're both broad, sleep spread out, or one of you moves a lot at night, since the Edmonton's connected springs carry movement across the bed. If your room is under about 3m x 3m, the UK double is the safer fit.
What bedding fits the Edmonton double?
Standard UK double bedding: sheets sized for 135 x 190cm and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. This is the easiest size to dress in the country, with options at every price point, a small but genuine saving if you're buying everything for a new home at once.
