- A footprint that leaves the room usable: At 3ft x 6ft 3in, a UK single leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in even a compact child's bedroom.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward rooms: It arrives compressed and rolled, which means it can be carried up narrow stairs to a loft conversion or lifted onto a raised frame before opening.
- The standard frame fit: UK single is the default size for kids' beds, mid sleepers and most student or rented frames, so it should drop straight into an existing base.
- Two singles beat one double for sharing siblings: A pair of 90cm-wide singles fits two children with a walkway between, where wider sizes would swallow the room.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, and they're the most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager, kitting out a student room or first flat where the frame came with the property, or setting up a spare room that spends most of the year as an office. The 90 x 190cm footprint is also the sensible choice where two beds share one room, or where a sloped loft ceiling limits you to a narrow bed.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who moves around a lot in the night, or the bed will occasionally sleep two. The UK small double of this same mattress gives you 30cm more width and would suit you better.

Will the Highgrove Halifax UK single fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The 90 x 190cm footprint is the standard bunk and mid-sleeper size, so it should fit the frame itself. The thing to check is depth: Highgrove doesn't publish a height for this mattress, and raised frames need the guard rail to sit above the mattress surface, so confirm the depth on the retailer's listing first.
What room size do I need for a single Highgrove Halifax?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space. That gives you room to walk down one side and make the bed without shuffling furniture. In a child's room competing with a desk and toy storage, the single's 90cm width is what keeps the rest of the floor free.
How much smaller is the UK single than a double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and 30cm narrower than the UK small double. That saved width matters most where two beds share one room, or where a bed has to tuck under a sloped loft ceiling. For a lone adult sleeper, the UK small double is the roomier compromise.
Can I get the boxed single up a narrow staircase?
Yes, and this is where the boxed format helps most in this size. The Highgrove Halifax arrives rolled and compressed, so it can be carried up tight stairs to a loft room or student flat, then unrolled on the frame. A traditional flat single is manageable, but a boxed one is far easier single-handed.
Where can I buy the Highgrove Halifax in a UK single?
Compare the retailers listed on this page; the prices shown here are updated as retailers change them. Because Highgrove doesn't publish full construction or firmness details for the Halifax, it's worth reading the retailer's own listing before you order, particularly if you need a specific feel for a child or guest.
