- 15cm wider than a UK double: That extra width goes straight into personal space, so two people can settle without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- 75cm of width each: Two people sharing get 75cm apiece, which means fewer accidental elbows and less waking each other when one of you turns over.
- 200cm of length: If either of you is approaching 6ft, the UK king's extra length stops feet hanging over the end, something a standard double can't offer.
- Kinder to different schedules: When one of you gets up hours before the other, the wider footprint makes slipping out with less disturbance genuinely easier.
- Room for the dog: If a pet on the bed is part of the routine, 150cm of width absorbs that habit better than a double ever will.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, one of you is tall enough to appreciate the extra 10cm of length over a double, or your sleep schedules differ and you want enough width that early alarms and late nights disturb each other less. Your bedroom should offer at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m comfortable.
Consider another size if...
Your room is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone and don't need this much width. We'd recommend the UK double for tighter rooms, or the UK super king if you have space and want 30cm more width.

How big is the Highgrove Solar Orthopocket 1500 in a UK king?
The UK king measures 150 x 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in. That works out at 75cm each for two people sharing, and the 200cm length gives taller sleepers welcome extra room over a standard double.
Is the UK king Solar Orthopocket 1500 big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. With 75cm of width each, you can both change position without constantly touching, which matters if one of you is a restless sleeper or you keep different hours. Very broad sleepers, or anyone sharing with children or a large dog, may prefer the UK super king, which is 30cm wider.
What room size do I need for a king size Solar Orthopocket 1500?
We suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables are in. New build master bedrooms can be smaller than they look on a floor plan, so measure with your existing furniture in mind before committing.
Should I choose the king or the super king Solar Orthopocket 1500?
The UK king suits couples who want more space than a double without demanding a large room. The UK super king adds 30cm of width, useful if a pet routinely shares the bed or you both spread out, but it needs a room comfortably above our king minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m.
What bedding fits the king size Solar Orthopocket 1500?
Standard UK king sheets fit the 150 x 200cm footprint, paired with a 230 x 220cm king duvet. Your double bedding won't stretch to cover it, so budget for a fresh set alongside the mattress if you're upgrading from a smaller size.
