Layer Details
- Luxurious comfort quilting. A quilted top layer that adds a soft, cushioned surface where your body first meets the mattress. It gives the sleeping surface a slightly plumper feel than a plain cover would.
- Memory Foam. A 1cm layer of memory foam that acts as a transition layer, designed for what SleepSoul calls the perfect sink with minimised movement. Being thin, it offers a gentle hint of contouring rather than the deep hug of thicker memory foam mattresses.
- Foam. A 10cm foam base that provides deep comfort through consistent weight distribution. This layer does most of the supportive work, spreading your weight evenly across the mattress.

- Slim enough for raised frames: At 10.5cm deep, the Nimbus sits low on a bunk, cabin or mid sleeper, which means more of the safety rail stays above the mattress surface.
- Leaves room for everything else: A 3ft wide footprint lets a wardrobe, desk and toy storage share a child's bedroom without the bed taking over the floor.
- A gentle feel for younger sleepers: The medium feel, with just 1cm of memory foam under a quilted cover, gives a little cushioning at the surface without the deep sink that some children find strange.
- Easy to move and rearrange: A slim single is light work to lift onto a high frame or swap between rooms, which helps when a spare room also serves as a home office.
- Pairs up for twin guest rooms: Two UK single Nimbus mattresses side by side let friends or siblings stay over without sharing a bed.
This size suits you if...
You are buying for a child or teenager, particularly one moving onto a bunk, cabin bed or mid sleeper where a slimmer mattress helps, or you need an occasional bed for one guest in a small spare room or study. It also suits a lighter adult sleeping alone in a first flat.
Consider another size if...
You share a bed with a partner, or you want space to spread out as an adult. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives 67.5cm each for two sharing; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.

Is the SleepSoul Nimbus UK single suitable for a bunk bed?
It is a good candidate. At 10.5cm deep it is slimmer than most mattresses, so it sits lower against the guard rail. Bunk and mid sleeper makers usually publish a maximum mattress depth for safety, so check your frame's guidance and confirm the UK single's 90 x 190cm matches the frame before ordering.
What size room do I need for a UK single Nimbus mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves enough room to walk around the bed and open a wardrobe or drawers, which matters in a child's bedroom or a box room where every bit of floor is already spoken for.
Can an adult sleep on the Nimbus in a UK single?
A lighter adult sleeping alone should find it comfortable for occasional or short-term use, such as a student room or guest bed. The slim 10.5cm build is the limiting factor, so heavier adults may feel the base more than they would like. For nightly use by an adult, a deeper mattress is usually the better long-term option.
Nimbus UK single or UK double for a guest room?
Think about who stays. The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double but the same length, so it takes less floor space and suits single guests or a pair of beds for friends. If couples visit, the UK double gives 67.5cm each for two sharing; we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.
Will two Nimbus UK single mattresses fit in a shared children's room?
Often, yes, as the UK single is the narrowest standard size at 90cm. Our 2.1m x 2.8m guidance covers one bed, so allow extra floor for a second bed and a clear walkway between them. If floor space is tight, a bunk bed with the slim Nimbus on each level is the space-saving alternative.
