- Fillings. British fleece wool and hand-teased horsetail blended with Devonshire wool. These natural fibres breathe well and wick moisture, which means a cooler, drier feel through the night than foam-based comfort layers.
- Springs. In the king size, 2030 vanadium steel pocket springs with 6 turns, each housed in a calico pocket. Each spring responds independently to your weight, which means close contouring and less disturbance from a restless partner.
- Cover. A fine quality ticking encases the mattress. It's the finishing layer that holds those natural fillings in place.

- Room to spread out alone: The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which means a solo sleeper can turn, sprawl and change position without an arm meeting the edge.
- Fits a tighter room: We suggest allowing at least 2.4m x 2.8m for a UK small double, a little less than the 2.6m x 2.8m we suggest for the UK double.
- Same length as a double: The UK small double and the UK double share a 190cm length, so you give up width and keep the length you'd get from a standard double.
- Natural fillings for a solo sleeper: British fleece wool and horsetail breathe and wick moisture, which means a cooler, drier night if you run warm and have the whole bed to yourself.
- Handles the odd guest couple: The independent pocket springs limit how much one sleeper feels the other move, which helps when a visiting couple shares the UK small double for a night or two.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone most nights and want more width than a single, your bedroom is compact or has a sloping loft conversion ceiling that leaves little space beside a bigger bed, or you're downsizing and need a bed that suits the new room rather than the old one.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, since the UK small double is best kept for occasional couple use. We'd recommend the UK double instead, allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Can I get split tension on the Vispring Kingsbridge UK small double?
No. Vispring offers split tension on the Kingsbridge in the UK king and UK super king only, so the UK small double comes in one tension across the whole surface. You still choose from the four tensions, Soft through to Extra Firm; this page covers the Medium/Firm.
Will a Vispring Kingsbridge small double fit a small bedroom or loft conversion?
We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m for a UK small double. In a loft conversion, measure where you have full standing height rather than the floor area, because a sloping ceiling can leave less usable space around the bed than the floor plan suggests.
Is the Vispring Kingsbridge in a UK small double big enough for two?
For a weekend guest couple, yes, though it will feel snug. For nightly sharing we'd point you to the UK double, which gives 67.5cm each for two sharing. Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.
What size is the Vispring Kingsbridge small double in feet?
The UK small double measures 4ft x 6ft 3in, which is 120 x 190cm. The Kingsbridge is 23cm deep, so check that your fitted sheets have deep enough pockets, as the 6cm of doming on top adds a little extra height at the centre.
Should I buy the Kingsbridge in a UK small double or a UK single for one person?
If your room allows it, the UK small double gives you 30cm more width at the same length as the UK single. Choose the UK single only if space is very tight: we suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m for the UK single, against 2.4m x 2.8m for the UK small double.
