Layer Details
- Top upholstery layer. Hand-teased real Shetland wool blended with cashmere and mohair. These fibres are naturally breathable and soft against the body, which means a gentler surface feel and better temperature regulation than synthetic fillings.
- Middle upholstery layer. Hand-opened Austrian Moosburger® horsetail. Horsetail is prized for its resilience, which means it recovers its shape night after night and helps the mattress resist sagging.
- Base upholstery layer. Blended real Shetland wool and cotton. This layer cushions the transition between the soft upper fillings and the springs below, so you feel support without feeling the spring unit itself.
- Spring layer. A two layer hand-nested calico pocket spring construction with 2,812 vanadium steel pocket springs. Two tiers of springs give progressive support, which means a softer initial feel that firms up as you sink in.

- Suits the bedrooms most couples have: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double sits comfortably in a room of 2.6m x 2.8m, which means you keep walking space around a bed this substantial.
- Space for bedside tables: In a room nearer 3m x 3m, the comfortable norm we suggest, a UK double usually leaves space for a bedside table on each side, so neither of you climbs over the other.
- Breathable fillings for two: The wool, cashmere and mohair top layer wicks moisture, which helps when two people are sharing the warmth of a UK double at 67.5cm each.
- Springs that move independently: Each pocket spring responds to your body on its own, so a partner turning over should travel a little less across the mattress at close quarters.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet are stocked widely, so a mattress this special needs no hunt for unusual bedding.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed with a partner and your bedroom is closer to 2.6m x 2.8m than to king territory, or you're furnishing a guest room where visiting couples should sleep well on natural fillings without the bed swallowing the floor space.
Consider another size if...
One of you sprawls across the mattress or you often disturb each other, and the room can take more. We'd recommend the UK king instead, with 75cm each; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Will a Vispring Magnificence UK double fit in my bedroom with bedside tables?
A UK double measures 135 x 190cm, or 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the bed alone, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. At that larger size, most rooms will take a bedside table either side and still leave space to open a wardrobe.
How much space per person does the Vispring Magnificence double give a couple?
The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing. That suits couples who sleep fairly close or stay still through the night. If you want more elbow room, the UK king gives 75cm each, so the UK double gives 7.5cm less per person.
Vispring Magnificence UK double or UK king for a smaller bedroom?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double, against at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king. If your room sits near the smaller figure, the UK double keeps the space usable.
Is the Vispring Magnificence UK double long enough for tall sleepers?
The UK double is 190cm long, which is 6ft 3in. That suits most adults, but if either of you is tall enough for your feet to reach the end, the UK king is 10cm longer. The UK double shares its length with the UK small double and UK single, so sizing down won't help here.
Should I choose the UK small double of the Vispring Magnificence instead?
The UK double is 15cm wider than the UK small double, at the same length. For two people sharing every night, those extra centimetres matter. The UK small double makes more sense for one sleeper in a compact room, where we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m, against 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.
