Layer Details
- Top upholstery layer. Hand-teased real Shetland wool blended with cashmere and mohair. These fibres are naturally breathable and soft against the body, which means a gentler surface feel and better temperature regulation than synthetic fillings.
- Middle upholstery layer. Hand-opened Austrian Moosburger® horsetail. Horsetail is prized for its resilience, which means it recovers its shape night after night and helps the mattress resist sagging.
- Base upholstery layer. Blended real Shetland wool and cotton. This layer cushions the transition between the soft upper fillings and the springs below, so you feel support without feeling the spring unit itself.
- Spring layer. A two layer hand-nested calico pocket spring construction with 2,812 vanadium steel pocket springs. Two tiers of springs give progressive support, which means a softer initial feel that firms up as you sink in.

- A small footprint: At 90 x 190cm, or 3ft x 6ft 3in, the UK single leaves room for a desk or wardrobe, so a spare room can still work as an office.
- Comfortable for a room under a slope: A narrow bed can sit along the low wall of a loft conversion, where a wider mattress would push into the space where you need to stand.
- Full construction for one person: You get the same wool, cashmere, mohair and horsetail fillings over hand-nested springs as the larger sizes, in a single sleeper's width.
- Two singles for a guest room: A pair of UK singles lets two guests sleep apart, which suits friends or grown-up children who would rather not share a bed.
- Modest room demands: We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which is a little less than any of the double sizes need.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want this handmade mattress without giving up floor space, your spare room also serves as a study or office, or you are furnishing a guest room with two separate beds and want each guest to have their own mattress.
Consider another size if...
You share a bed, or you like room to spread out while sleeping alone. The UK small double would suit you better: it is 30cm wider, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Vispring Magnificence UK single big enough for an adult?
For one adult of average height, yes. It is 90cm wide and 190cm long. If you are tall, the UK small double and UK double are the same length, so they only add width; the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK single, although it is also 60cm wider and needs a bigger room.
Will a UK single Vispring Magnificence fit in a loft conversion bedroom?
In most cases the narrow footprint helps, because a 90cm wide bed can run along the low side of a sloping ceiling. We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space. Before ordering, check the headroom above where the bed will sit. This mattress is handmade and heavy to move, so measure your stairs and doorway too.
Can I use a Vispring Magnificence single on a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
Check carefully before you do. Raised frames set a maximum mattress depth for safety, and Vispring's own descriptions give more than one depth figure for this model, partly because of the domed top. Confirm the exact depth with Vispring, then compare it against the frame maker's limit. If the mattress is too deep, the guard rail will not do its job.
Should I buy two Vispring Magnificence UK singles for a guest room?
If your guests are often friends or family who sleep separately, two singles give the most flexibility. Each one is 90cm wide. The UK super king gives 90cm each for two sharing, so it offers the same space per person in one bed, although we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for it.
UK single or UK small double Vispring Magnificence for one person?
The UK single fits a smaller room, and we suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m for it. The UK small double is 30cm wider and the same length, which gives a restless sleeper more room to turn over, but we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it. If your room allows it, a solo adult will usually find the extra width more comfortable.
