- Wool protector pad. A wool protector pad sits at the surface for extra comfort. It adds a soft, breathable first point of contact before you reach the fillings beneath.
- Natural fillings. All natural fillings, including Platinum Certified British fleece wool and cotton. Wool regulates temperature and wicks moisture, which means a drier, more even sleeping climate through the night.
- Springs. Six-coil vanadium steel springs, hand nested in calico, with 1,254 in the King size. Nesting the springs in calico pockets lets each one compress independently, so support follows the curve of your body.

- Room for everything else: At 90 x 190cm, the UK single needs only 2.1m x 2.8m by our guidance, which leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a small child's room.
- Soft springs for lighter sleepers: The soft tension gives readily under a lighter frame, which means a child or slim teenager sinks in a little instead of lying stiffly on the surface.
- Wool for stuffy small rooms: The British fleece wool filling draws moisture away from the body, which means a teenager in a warm box room or loft conversion should stay drier through the night.
- Fits under a sloping ceiling: The 3ft wide footprint tucks along the low wall of a loft conversion and keeps the full-height side of the room clear for standing and dressing.
- A slimmer profile: At 21cm deep it sits lower than many modern mattresses, which may help on a raised frame, although you should still confirm the frame maker's maximum depth first.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and are on the lighter side, or you're furnishing a child's or teenager's room where the bed has to share limited floor space with a desk and wardrobe.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed with a partner, or you're a heavier adult who wants more room to move. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives 67.5cm each for two and needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Vispring soft mattress in a UK single good for a child?
For most children, yes. The soft tension suits lighter sleepers, and a child's weight is unlikely to push through to the springs in a way that feels unsupported. As a child grows into a heavier teenager, the soft feel may start to seem a little too yielding, so bear that in mind if you want the UK single to last them several years.
Will a Vispring UK single fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The UK single is 90 x 190cm, the standard size these frames take, and at 21cm deep it is shallower than many modern mattresses. Raised frames usually carry a maximum mattress depth so the guard rail stays effective, and that limit varies by frame. Check the frame maker's guidance against the 21cm depth before you buy.
How much bedroom space do I need for a UK single Vispring mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves room to walk around the bed and open a wardrobe. In a loft conversion, place the UK single along the low wall, where its 3ft width uses space that a wider bed could not.
Is a UK single Vispring mattress long enough for an adult?
The UK single measures 90 x 190cm, or 3ft x 6ft 3in, which works for most adults of average height sleeping alone. Taller sleepers may find their feet near the edge. The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK single, although it needs a much larger room, at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
Should I buy a UK single or UK double Vispring for a spare room?
If your guests usually arrive alone, the UK single keeps a spare room usable as a study. If couples stay, the UK double is 45cm wider than the UK single and gives 67.5cm each for two, but we suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.
