- Room to sleep apart, together: At 75cm each for two people sharing, you can settle into your own space rather than negotiating the middle of the bed.
- Less disturbance across a wider bed: The 1,400 individual pocket springs absorb movement locally, so when one of you turns over at 5am, the other side stays settled.
- Length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double at 200cm, which stops taller sleepers' feet hanging over the edge.
- A step up you'll actually feel: The UK king is 15cm wider than the UK double, enough of a difference to notice every night without demanding a huge room.
- Easy bedding to buy for: Standard king sheets and a 230 x 220cm king duvet fit this size, both widely stocked in UK shops.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, especially with one of you on a different schedule to the other. It also fits if either of you is tall, since the 200cm length gives welcome extra room, or if a dog has made itself a permanent fixture and you keep waking up on the edge.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king. In that case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and keeps most of the width.

Is the Cotton Pocket 1400 in a UK king big enough for a couple?
Comfortably, for most. Two people sharing get 75cm each, which is the width many couples find lets them sleep undisturbed. The 1,400 pocket springs help too, since each spring compresses on its own, so movement on one side carries less across the mattress. Restless sleepers who want maximum separation could consider the UK super king.
What room size do I need for the Cotton Pocket 1400 in a UK king?
We suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables are in. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear, so measure with the furniture in place before committing. This is our own guidance rather than the manufacturer's.
Is the UK king Cotton Pocket 1400 long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, and that length is often the real reason taller sleepers upgrade. Anyone approaching or over six foot should find their feet stay on the mattress rather than at the edge of it. Width and length improve together here, which suits mixed-height couples well.
Should I choose the UK king or UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and the two are the same length. If your room meets the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for the UK super king and you want maximum personal space, size up. If space is tighter, the UK king still gives a couple 75cm each.
