- Distance plus spring isolation: Pocket springs move independently, and at 90cm each for two people sharing, movement on one side has to travel a long way before you feel it.
- Room for night-time visitors: When a child pads in at 3am, the full 6ft of width means everyone keeps a workable share rather than someone ending up on the edge.
- Space for pets who think it's their bed too: A large dog stretched across the foot of a UK super king still leaves two adults sleeping normally.
- Medium firm across a big surface: The medium firm feel keeps you supported wherever you drift on 180cm of width, rather than rolling towards a partner's dip.
- Proportion in a larger master: In a big period bedroom or a generous new build master, a UK super king fills the wall properly where a UK king can look undersized.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and one of you is a genuinely restless sleeper, or your household routinely ends up with children or pets in the bed and you want everyone to keep their own space. It also suits you if your master bedroom is large enough that a UK king would look lost against the wall.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK super king, or your landing and door swing make a 180cm mattress a struggle. We'd recommend the UK king instead, where we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

How big is the Cotton Pocket 1400 in a UK super king?
The UK super king measures 180 x 200cm, which is 6ft x 6ft 6in. For two people sharing that works out at 90cm each, so a restless partner has real distance to cross before they disturb you, on top of the isolation the pocket springs already give.
Is the UK super king Cotton Pocket 1400 good for restless partners?
It's one of the better pairings for this problem. Pocket springs compress individually rather than as one surface, so turning over transfers little movement, and the 90cm each for two people sharing adds simple physical distance. If your partner fidgets all night, width does as much as any comfort layer can.
Is a super king too big for sharing with a child or dog?
The opposite, really. This is the size we'd point families towards. With 180cm of width, a child climbing in during the night or a large dog claiming the foot of the bed still leaves both adults enough room to sleep properly, which a UK double rarely manages.
Should I get the Cotton Pocket 1400 in a UK king or UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length. If you share with a restless partner, children or pets, the extra width is what you'll feel. Room size usually decides it: allow at least 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king, or 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king.
What bedding does a super king Cotton Pocket 1400 need?
You'll need super king sheets and a 260 x 220cm duvet. Bedding at this size costs more than king equivalents, so factor that into your budget alongside the mattress. The prices shown on this page are updated as retailers change them, so compare there rather than relying on a remembered figure.
