- Damask Cover. A durable damask cover in a classic woven design. It's a traditional finish that wears well over time.
- White Fibre Fillings. A lightweight, high-loft filling that holds its shape and is hypo-allergenic, which means it's a sound choice if dust or allergens bother you. It provides the comfort layer between you and the springs.
- Hand-Tufted Layer. Nylon tapes pass through the mattress at regular intervals, secured with cotton tufts on both sides. This holds the fillings firmly in place and contributes to the firmer feel.
- Open Coil Springs. An interconnected spring system arranged in rows from head to toe, each row joined by a spiral helical wire. It's a hard-wearing, durable design, although the connected springs mean you'll feel a partner's movement more than you would with pocket springs.
- Wire Edge Border. A thick rod-edge wire runs around the perimeter springs to reinforce the border. In practice, that means better edge support when you sit on the side of the bed.

- The classic footprint for shared rooms: At 135 x 190cm (4ft 6in x 6ft 3in), it fits comfortably in most UK bedrooms with space left for wardrobes and drawers.
- Firm support across the full width: The hand-tufted firm surface stays consistent from edge to edge, which matters when two people share and neither wants to roll toward the middle.
- Edge support on both sides of the bed: A rod-edge wire reinforces the border, so a couple getting in and out on opposite sides won't feel the perimeter give way.
- Flippable, so it wears evenly under two: Being double-sided means you can flip and rotate it, helping the fillings settle evenly rather than dipping where each sleeper lies.
- Easy to dress on any budget: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet fit, both stocked everywhere, useful if you're furnishing several rooms at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed most nights and want the long-standing UK couples' size without giving a bigger room over to a UK king, you're setting up a guest room that has to cope with visiting couples, or you're furnishing a whole home and want a firm, flippable double that keeps one line of a long list simple.
Consider another size if...
You or your partner sleep restlessly, because the interconnected open coil springs share movement across the 135cm width. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which gives each of you noticeably more room to absorb the disturbance.

Is the Highgrove Cirrus double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. You get 67.5cm each for two people sharing, which is the traditional UK standard. Bear in mind the open coil springs here transfer more movement than pocket springs, so on a double you'll notice a partner turning over. If one of you is a light sleeper, the UK king puts more distance between you.
What room size do I need for the Highgrove Cirrus in a UK double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves walking space on both sides and room for bedside tables, which most couples want. In a typical second bedroom or first flat, a double usually still leaves space for a wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Should couples choose the Highgrove Cirrus in a double or a UK king?
The UK double is 15cm narrower than the UK king, and the deciding factor with this mattress is movement. Open coil springs are interconnected, so a restless partner is more noticeable than on pocket springs. If your room allows it, the UK king softens that. If space is tight, the UK double keeps the room usable.
Is the double Highgrove Cirrus a good guest room mattress?
It's well suited to one. The 135 x 190cm footprint handles visiting couples as well as solo guests, the firm surface suits a wide range of sleepers for short stays, and because it's double-sided you can flip it between visits to keep the fillings even. Guest beds see irregular use, so that even wear matters more than you'd think.
How much space does each person get on a double Highgrove Cirrus?
Two people sharing get 67.5cm each. That's enough for most couples who sleep fairly settled, though front sleepers who spread their arms may feel the limit. The rod-edge border helps here: you can use the full width right to the sides without the edge sagging, which effectively makes the sleeping surface feel a little wider.
