- Damask Cover. A durable damask cover in a classic woven design. It's a traditional finish that wears well over time.
- White Fibre Fillings. A lightweight, high-loft filling that holds its shape and is hypo-allergenic, which means it's a sound choice if dust or allergens bother you. It provides the comfort layer between you and the springs.
- Hand-Tufted Layer. Nylon tapes pass through the mattress at regular intervals, secured with cotton tufts on both sides. This holds the fillings firmly in place and contributes to the firmer feel.
- Open Coil Springs. An interconnected spring system arranged in rows from head to toe, each row joined by a spiral helical wire. It's a hard-wearing, durable design, although the connected springs mean you'll feel a partner's movement more than you would with pocket springs.
- Wire Edge Border. A thick rod-edge wire runs around the perimeter springs to reinforce the border. In practice, that means better edge support when you sit on the side of the bed.

- Real space for one sleeper: At 30cm wider than a UK single, you can shift position freely through the night, which matters on a firm surface where you settle rather than sink.
- Fits rooms a double cannot: It's 15cm narrower than a UK double, so a box room, loft conversion or small second bedroom keeps walking space beside the bed.
- Edge support across a narrower bed: The rod-edge wire border reinforces the perimeter, so on a 120cm width you can use the full surface right to the sides without them giving way.
- Movement transfer matters less solo: Open coil springs pass movement across the bed, but with one person on it most nights, the Cirrus's main drawback barely registers.
- Flippable at a manageable size: This is a double-sided mattress you're meant to turn, and at 4ft wide one adult can flip it without help.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone most nights and have outgrown a UK single, your bedroom can't take a 135cm-wide bed without losing the floor space around it, or you're furnishing a guest room or holiday let where couples stay a few weekends a year rather than nightly. The firm feel suits back and front sleepers, and standard 4ft frames and bedding are easy to find.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, because 120cm is snug for two adults and the open coil springs will carry each other's movement across it. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives you 15cm more width.

Is a small double big enough for a couple on the Highgrove Cirrus?
For occasional nights, yes. At 120cm wide it works for guests sharing a few weekends a year. Every night is harder: the width is snug for two adults, and the interconnected open coil springs transfer movement, so you'd feel each other more than on pocket springs. Nightly couples should look at the UK double.
What room size do I need for the Highgrove Cirrus small double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m. That leaves enough space to walk around the bed and open drawers or doors. The mattress itself is 120 x 190cm, so measure the frame you're pairing it with too, as some designs add several centimetres to each side.
Can one person flip the Highgrove Cirrus in a small double?
Usually, yes. The Cirrus is double-sided and designed to be flipped and rotated so the fillings settle evenly, and the UK small double is the sort of width one adult can manage alone. Take it slowly in a tight room, and clear bedside tables first if space beside the bed is limited.
Is a small double worth it over a single for one adult?
If the room allows, generally yes. The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which turns a bed you fit on into one you can spread out across. That's especially useful on a firm mattress like the Cirrus, where you lie on the surface rather than sinking into a fixed hollow.
Will the small double Cirrus fit a loft conversion or box room?
This is exactly where the size makes sense. At 120cm wide it's 15cm narrower than a UK double, which is often the difference between having somewhere to stand beside the bed and squeezing past it. Measure your usable floor area against our suggested minimum of 2.4m x 2.8m, allowing for sloped ceilings.
