- Fits a busy child's bedroom: At 90cm wide the bed leaves room for a wardrobe, desk and toy storage in a typical kids' room rather than swallowing the floor.
- Boxed delivery suits awkward rooms: It arrives rolled and boxed, which means carrying it up narrow stairs or into a loft conversion is far easier than manoeuvring a flat mattress.
- Works for shared sibling rooms: Two UK singles plus a walkway will fit in many children's rooms where anything wider would leave no space to move.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, and both are the most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
- A sensible guest room choice: For a spare room that doubles as an office, a UK single keeps a proper bed available without giving up the desk.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager, kitting out a guest room that only sees visitors a few nights a year, or you're a single adult in a compact room, a student let or a first flat where the frame is provided and only the mattress is missing. The 90 x 190cm footprint slots into almost any UK bedroom with space to spare.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who sprawls, or you share the bed even occasionally. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which gives you 30cm more width while still fitting a modest room.

Will the Highgrove Quebec UK single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The width matches standard UK bunk and mid sleeper frames, which take a 90 x 190cm mattress. The sticking point is depth: raised frames need the mattress to sit below the guard rail line, and Highgrove doesn't publish a depth for this model, so confirm it with the retailer before buying for a bunk.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open a wardrobe, which matters in children's rooms where the bed shares space with a desk and storage. Most UK box rooms clear that comfortably.
Is the Highgrove Quebec UK single big enough for an adult?
For one average-sized adult, yes: 90 x 190cm is the standard UK one-person size and suits students and single sleepers in compact rooms. Taller adults should note the 190cm length, and anyone used to more width may find it slightly snug. If so, the UK small double is 30cm wider.
How much narrower is the UK single than a UK double?
The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, and 30cm narrower than the UK small double. That saving is exactly why singles suit shared sibling rooms and lofts with a narrow footprint under the slope, where a wider bed would block the walkway entirely.
Can I put two Highgrove Quebec UK singles in one guest room?
Yes, and it's a flexible setup: two 90cm-wide beds cover solo guests, friends travelling together or a couple who push them side by side. You'll need room for both beds plus a walkway between, so measure first. Each arrives boxed, which makes getting two up the stairs easier.
