- Real space for one: At 120cm across it's 30cm wider than the UK single, which means a solo sleeper can starfish rather than sleep to attention.
- Fits rooms a double won't: It's 15cm narrower than the UK double, and in a box room or loft conversion that margin can decide whether you can still walk beside the bed.
- Boxed for awkward access: A rolled mattress turns tight landings and loft stairs from a two-person struggle into a manageable carry.
- Sensible for occasional couples: Two people can share it for guest weekends, so it suits a spare room where nobody sleeps every night.
- Standard 4ft bedding: The small double is a standard UK size, so frames and fitted sheets are easy to find, and a normal double duvet works on top.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and have outgrown a single but your room can't spare the width of a full double, you're furnishing a guest room or holiday let where couples stay a few weekends a year, or you're fitting out a loft conversion or studio where 15cm of saved width keeps a walkway clear.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, in which case the 120cm width will feel tight over time. We'd recommend the Highgrove Quebec in a UK double instead, provided your room allows the extra 15cm of width.

Will the Highgrove Quebec small double fit in a box room?
Usually, yes, and that's largely the point of the size. We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m so you can open the door fully and walk around the bed. Measure your usable floor, not the room on the plans, as radiators and built-in wardrobes eat into it quickly.
How big is the Highgrove Quebec small double in feet?
It's 4ft x 6ft 3in, or 120 x 190cm. That's the same length as a UK single and UK double, with the width sitting between the two: 30cm wider than the UK single and 15cm narrower than the UK double.
Can a couple sleep on the Highgrove Quebec small double?
For occasional nights, comfortably enough. As a guest bed used a few weekends a year it's a practical choice. For a couple sharing every night, the 120cm width means noticeably less personal space than a UK double, so we'd only suggest it where the room genuinely can't take a bigger bed.
Is the small double easy to get upstairs?
Easier than most, because the Quebec arrives rolled and compressed in a box rather than flat. That matters for exactly the rooms this size tends to go in: lofts, box rooms and second bedrooms reached by narrow or turning stairs. One person can often manage the carry alone.
Where can I check the price of the Highgrove Quebec small double?
Use the comparison table on this page. The prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so it's a more reliable guide than any figure quoted in an article or review. While you're there, it's worth asking the retailer about firmness and materials, as Highgrove doesn't publish those details.
