Cover
A soft stretch knit fabric with a micro quilted finish, which secures the outer fabric to the surface layers. In practice that means the top stays smooth and in place rather than shifting or bunching.
Fillings
White fibre fillings that are lightweight, high loft and hypo-allergenic, which means they hold their shape well and suit allergy-prone sleepers. Tencel, a eucalyptus treated fibre, is blended in to improve heat flow and wick away moisture, helpful if you tend to sleep warm.
Spring System
Hourglass shaped springs set in head-to-toe rows, connected by spiral wires into an interconnected open coil unit. This is a hardwearing, traditional design, although it does transfer more movement across the bed than pocket springs, so a restless partner will be more noticeable.
Edge Support
A thick rod-edge wire attached to the perimeter springs to prevent border breakdown. You'll feel this as edge to edge support, so sitting on the side of the bed or sleeping near the edge won't cause early sagging.
Layer details from archerssleepcentre.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Real personal space: The UK king is 15cm wider than the UK double, and with 75cm each for two people sharing, you can both change position without a standoff.
- Extra width softens motion transfer: The interconnected open coil unit does pass movement across the bed, but the added distance between you takes the edge off a partner's early alarm.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, this size stops feet hanging off the end, which is often the real reason people trade up from a double.
- Usable right to the border: The rod-edge wire supports the perimeter, so on a shared UK king you can sleep near your own edge rather than drifting to the middle.
- Cooler across a bigger surface: The Tencel-blended fillings help heat and moisture escape, which two bodies on one mattress will appreciate more than one.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double leaves you brushing elbows, or one of you gets up hours before the other and you'd like more distance between you. It also suits a couple where one partner is tall enough to want the 200cm length, or a household where the dog has quietly claimed a strip of the bed and you'd rather add space than argue.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum for a UK king. In that case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives up 15cm of width but frees valuable floor space around the bed.

Is the Highgrove Solar Supreme UK king good for couples?
Broadly yes, with one caveat. The 150cm width gives 75cm each for two people sharing, a clear step up from a double. The open coil springs are interconnected, though, so you'll feel a restless partner more than on pocket springs. The extra width helps offset that, which is partly why couples choose this size.
Will a UK king Solar Supreme fit my bedroom?
The mattress measures 150 x 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in. We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m so you can open wardrobes and walk round both sides comfortably. New build master bedrooms can feel tighter than the floor plan suggests once furniture goes in, so measure with wardrobes and drawers included.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, it's 10cm longer than a UK double, and for many taller sleepers that length is the real reason to upgrade. Someone around six foot should have room to stretch out fully. If you're well past that mark, sizing considerations shift towards checking your bed frame's internal length too.
Does the edge support matter more in the king size?
Arguably yes. On a shared bed, both of you sleep nearer an edge than a solo sleeper would, and the rod-edge wire around the perimeter springs means the borders resist sagging. That lets a couple use the full 150cm width rather than treating the outer strip as off limits.
Where can I buy the Highgrove Solar Supreme in a UK king?
