Layer Details
- Cover. A soft stretch knit fabric with a micro quilted finish, which secures the outer fabric to the surface layers. In practice that means the top stays smooth and in place rather than shifting or bunching.
- Fillings. White fibre fillings that are lightweight, high loft and hypo-allergenic, which means they hold their shape well and suit allergy-prone sleepers. Tencel, a eucalyptus treated fibre, is blended in to improve heat flow and wick away moisture, helpful if you tend to sleep warm.
- Spring System. Hourglass shaped springs set in head-to-toe rows, connected by spiral wires into an interconnected open coil unit. This is a hardwearing, traditional design, although it does transfer more movement across the bed than pocket springs, so a restless partner will be more noticeable.
- Edge Support. A thick rod-edge wire attached to the perimeter springs to prevent border breakdown. You'll feel this as edge to edge support, so sitting on the side of the bed or sleeping near the edge won't cause early sagging.

- 90cm of width each: Two people sharing get 90cm each, so a restless partner's tossing happens far enough away that you're much less likely to feel it.
- Distance offsets the open coil: Yes, interconnected open coils pass on more movement than pocket springs, but at this width you're rarely close enough for it to register.
- Room for night-time visitors: If children or a large dog regularly end up in your bed, 180cm of width means everyone still gets a usable share of the mattress.
- Edge support across a big surface: The rod-edge wire around the perimeter keeps the borders firm, useful on a mattress this wide where someone often ends up sleeping near the edge.
- Tencel fillings under two sleepers: Eucalyptus-treated Tencel fibres improve heat flow and moisture dissipation, which helps when two bodies are warming the same mattress all night.
This size suits you if...
You've outgrown a UK king and want the maximum sleeping space stocked as standard, you share with a partner who fidgets and want enough distance that their movement stops being your problem, or children and pets treat your bed as their own and you need everyone to fit without anyone hanging off the side.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m, or a super king would leave no walking space around the bed. We'd recommend the UK king instead: 30cm narrower, still generous for two.

Is the Highgrove Solar Supreme super king big enough for co-sleeping with children?
It's the most practical size for it. At 180 x 200cm you get 90cm each for two adults, so when a child wanders in there's still a reasonable share for everyone. The medium to firm feel also means a small extra body won't create much of a dip for others to roll into.
What room size do I need for the Highgrove Solar Supreme in a super king?
We suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, with something closer to 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. In a period property or a large master where a UK king can look undersized, this size fills the space properly. In a loft conversion, check the slope leaves a wall long enough for 180cm.
Does the super king reduce motion transfer on the Highgrove Solar Supreme?
The springs themselves behave the same in every size: the interconnected open coil unit does pass on more movement than pocket springs. What changes is distance. With 90cm each, a partner turning over is happening a long way from you, and across owner-reported experience with open coil beds generally, width does more for undisturbed sleep than any comfort layer.
Should I choose the Highgrove Solar Supreme in a UK king or a super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and both are 200cm long. If your room comfortably clears our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m and you share the bed, the extra width is the better buy, particularly on an open coil mattress where space between sleepers softens the motion transfer.
Will a super king mattress fit up my stairs?
A 180 x 200cm mattress is the size where staircases start to bite, so measure the tightest landing turn and any door swing before ordering. This is a traditional sprung mattress, so it arrives full size rather than rolled and compressed. If access is genuinely tight, the UK king may be the realistic ceiling for your home.
