Layer Details
- Cover. A stretch knit fabric with a quilted finish. This gives the sleep surface a soft, slightly cushioned top layer against the firm build beneath.
- Fillings. White fibre fillings, a lightweight, high loft material that holds its shape over time. They are also hypo-allergenic, which helps if you're prone to allergies.
- Foam Core. A reflex foam core that conforms to your body by distributing weight evenly. In practice this means fewer pressure points at your hips and shoulders.
- Springs. Rows of hourglass shaped springs joined top and bottom by spiral helical wires, forming an interconnected open coil system. Expect a traditional, springy firm feel rather than isolated, independent support.

- Fits compact rooms: At 3ft x 6ft 3in, the UK single leaves floor space for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage, and we suggest a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m.
- Firm support for growing sleepers: The interconnected open coil springs and reflex foam give even, firm support, which suits children and teens who sleep on their back or front.
- Hypo-allergenic fillings: The white fibre fillings are hypo-allergenic, a quiet reassurance in a child's or guest room where dust sensitivity might otherwise flare up.
- Arrives boxed: Vacuum-packed delivery makes it far easier to carry up to a loft conversion or manoeuvre around a bunk frame than a rigid mattress would be.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Single sheets and duvets are the most widely stocked of any size, handy for a spare room or a student flat kitted out on a budget.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager who needs firm, springy support, you're setting up a guest bed that only sees occasional use, or you're a single adult in a compact room where a 90cm width keeps a walkway clear. It also works where two beds share one room, siblings or a guest room deliberately arranged as a pair of singles.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who sleeps alone but likes to spread out, or you find 90cm restrictive when you turn. We'd recommend the UK small double instead: the UK single is 30cm narrower than the UK small double.

How big is the Highgrove Vancouver UK single?
It measures 90 x 190cm, or 3ft x 6ft 3in. That's the standard UK one-person size, so any UK single frame, sheets and a standard single duvet will fit. We suggest allowing a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m so there's space to move around the bed comfortably.
Is the Highgrove Vancouver UK single good for a child's bedroom?
It's a strong candidate. The firm open coil build supports a growing back, the fibre fillings are hypo-allergenic, and the 90cm width leaves room in a smaller bedroom for a desk and storage. One caveat: lighter side sleepers may find the surface a little unyielding at the shoulder.
Will the Highgrove Vancouver single fit a bunk or mid sleeper frame?
The footprint is right, since bunks and mid sleepers take a standard 90 x 190cm single. The mattress is 28cm deep, though, which is on the tall side for a raised frame, so check your frame's maximum mattress depth to keep the guard rail effective before you buy.
Is a UK single sensible for a spare room used as an office?
Yes, this is where the size makes most sense. A single takes up far less floor space than a double, so the desk stays usable, and the Vancouver's firm feel holds up well for guests staying a few nights a year. For couples visiting regularly, two UK singles side by side is a flexible arrangement.
Should I choose the Highgrove Vancouver in a UK single or UK double?
It depends who's sleeping on it. The UK single is 45cm narrower than the UK double, ample for one child, teen or adult in a compact room, but tight for anyone who sprawls. If the room can take it and the bed is for a couple, the UK double is the better call.
