Layer Details
Cover
A knit cover designed to feel cool and ultra soft, with breathable micro-dots that move air outwards. In practice, that should help the surface stay fresher through the night.
Emma AirGrid™ Tech
Emma's most advanced AirGrid™ layer, a flexible grid engineered to adapt to your body. It is there for pressure relief, flexing where you press into it rather than pushing back evenly.
MemoryAdapt layer
This is the layer that gives the first comforting hug, responding to your body with immediate cushioning to relieve pressure. In the Performance 30 it is 4.5 cm thick, deeper than in other models in the range.
SupportBase
A 6.5 cm foam layer that keeps you supported in every zone, easing strain on sensitive pressure points. It also creates a smooth transition down to the core layers, so you shouldn't feel a sudden change in firmness.
Zoned pocket springs
Zoned pocket springs add bounce, extra support and stability, which means the mattress responds when you move rather than leaving you feeling stuck. They also reduce motion transfer, a quiet benefit for couples.
SupportBase
A second foam layer that grounds the zoned spring core and keeps the mattress structure stable. Think of it as the foundation the rest of the build sits on.
Bottom cover
A simple base cover that keeps the mattress in place on your bed frame.
Layer details from emma-sleep.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Room to sleep on different schedules: With 75cm each for two people sharing, an early riser can slip out without dragging the duvet across a still-sleeping partner.
- Zoned springs earn more in this width: The zoned pocket springs reduce motion transfer, and at 150cm wide there's enough distance between you for that to genuinely register.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, or 5ft x 6ft 6in, anyone approaching six foot gets their feet on the mattress rather than hanging off it.
- Deep cushioning without the wrestle for space: The 4.5cm MemoryAdapt layer gives each of you your own pocket of cushioning, so one person settling in doesn't reshape the other's side.
- Fits more rooms than a super king: We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, which many UK master bedrooms can manage where a UK super king would crowd them.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel like a negotiation, one of you leaves for work hours before the other and keeps disturbing them, or someone in the bed is nudging six foot and needs the 200cm length more than anything else.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone in a modest room. The UK double would suit you better there, and it keeps the same layered build in a footprint that leaves space to move around.

Is the Emma Performance 30 in a UK king big enough for a couple?
Comfortably, for most. You get 75cm each for two people sharing, which is enough for both of you to change position without touching. The deep MemoryAdapt cushioning means each sleeper sinks into their own area, and the zoned pocket springs keep one person's movement from travelling across to the other.
Will the UK king stop me feeling my partner get up early?
It helps on two fronts. The zoned pocket springs are built to reduce motion transfer, and the 150cm width puts real distance between you, so someone easing out of bed at 5am creates less disturbance than they would on a narrower mattress. Light sleepers may still notice something, but far less than on a double.
Is the UK king Emma Performance 30 long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, it gives a 6ft sleeper roughly a head-and-shoulders margin, so heels stay on the mattress rather than the edge. The UK king is 15cm wider than the UK double and adds length too, which is often the change taller sleepers actually feel. For genuinely very tall sleepers, check the fit against your own height.
What room size do I need for this mattress in a UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with more feeling comfortable once wardrobes and bedside tables are in. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear, so measure with your furniture in place. If the numbers don't work, the UK double version of this mattress needs noticeably less floor space.
Should I choose the UK king or the UK super king in this mattress?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and for most couples it's the better fit: plenty of personal space without dominating the room. Size up if a dog or a child regularly joins you, or if you both sprawl. Compare the retailers listed on this page, as prices are updated as retailers change them.
